In Australia, Nationally Recognised Training ensures that qualifications and units of competency meet industry standards and are consistently applied nationwide. These courses are developed to equip students with the latest skills and knowledge required for their field.

However, as industries evolve, training programs are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect current best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory changes. This process if part of the national Vocational Education and Training (VET) system, ensuring qualifications may be discontinued altogether.

What This Means for Students
  • Transition period: Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) have a set timeframe, typically 12 months, to phase our superseded courses and transition to the new version
  • Completion options: Students already enrolled in a superseded course can complete their studies within the transition period and receive their qualification or statement of attainment
  • Course Upgrades: If a student is unable to complete their training before the deadline, they may have the option to transfer to the new qualification. This could involve additional assessments or training to meet updated requirements.

Each qualification and unit may have specific transition rules depending on the changes made. It is important to check how a superseded course may affect your enrolment and whether you will need to complete any extra requirements.

This process ensures that all students receive training that aligns with current industry needs, helping them stay competitive in their careers.

If you have any questions about a superseded course and how it may impact your students, please contact WHS Foundation’s Customer Service Team for guidance.

Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a personal identification number that remains with you throughout your lifetime and can be used across all registered training organisations in Australia. It is free to create and ensures that any nationally recognised VET courses you complete are recorded in a single, secure online account that you control.

With your USI, you can easily access your training records and results anytime from a computer, tablet, or smartphone. This is especially useful when applying for jobs or enrolling in further study.

You can create your USI before accepting your place and enrolling, or we can assist with the application process on your behalf.

For more information please refer to www.usi.gov.au/students.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

What is RPL?

RPL is an assessment process that evaluates your existing skills, knowledge, and experience against the competencies of a unit or qualification.

You may apply for RPL for a single unit, multiple units, or even an entire qualification, depending on your experience or prior learning.

RPL is not a traditional learning pathway – candidates must demonstrate their competency by providing sufficient evidence. No additional training or learning materials are provided as part of the RPL  process.

What is involved?

To achieve a successful RPL outcome, you must demonstrate that you meet all the required skills and knowledge for the unit(s) you’re applying for. Candidates will receive an RPL kit that has been developed to guide students through the process of gathering evidence and demonstrating their competency in the required units of the BSB41419 qualification. It provides clear instructions on the types of evidence that can be submitted and the level of competency required to meet the standards. Your evidence should not be more than 3 years old to meet the currency requirements.

The RPL process itself can take some time, depending on how quickly you can gather and submit the necessary evidence. Some students choose to enrol in a course instead, as attending classes can sometimes be more straightforward than compiling the required documentation for RPL.

For further details or to apply, contact- contact@whsfoundation.org.au.

Credit Transfer

Credit transfer acknowledges formal education and training previously completed. If you have successfully completed a superseded unit that has been deemed equivalent, and you can demonstrate that your knowledge is up to date, WHS Foundation will recognise the unit and apply it as credit towards your current studies.

To apply for credit transfer, you will need to provide evidence of your completed unit(s) by either: downloading a secure PDF of your USI record from the USI Student Portal or providing a copy of your official academic transcript listing the completed units.

For further details or to apply, contact- contact@whsfoundation.org.au.
