Contractor Management Award
About
The Contractor Management Award acknowledges and recognises a positive contribution towards managing the modern world of work often involving a contractual chain of contractors and sub-contractors.
The way contracted work is organised between the various principal and contracting parties can significantly impact on work health and safety (WHS) outcomes for the works and for the contracted workers.
The WHS laws place a concurrent duty on all businesses and undertakings in the contractual chain to ensure the health and safety of all workers, to the extent of respective capacity to control and influence matters. Also to consult, cooperate and coordinate with each other regarding who does what for work health and safety.
Good practice contractor management approaches recognise the WHS risks, impacts and legal obligations and include processes for the selection, engagement, management and monitoring of contracted work to ensure safe and healthy work and optimum WHS outcomes for contracted workers.
CRITERIA
The selection criteria for this award include the following:
- The features of contractor management approach and its relevance or usefulness to WHS.
- Attributes of the design, development, implementation, monitoring, review and improvement of the WHS aspects of the contractor management approach.
- The benefit or improvement in health and safety that the contractor management approach addresses or achieves, including potential benefits or broader industry application.
ELIGIBILITY
Entry to this award is open to all individuals, businesses and undertakings that operate in Western Australia, including the corporate, government, not-for-profit and community sectors.
Individuals and business entities being nominated for this award must provide written permission for the nomination and for its use in WHS Foundation promotional materials.
SUBMISSION
Submissions must include a clear written summary addressing the selection criteria below. (Up to 500 words in MS Word or PDF). However, to compliment the written submission, applicants are encouraged to also submit a short video (max 3 minutes) and additional supporting material including: documents, photographs, video / audio, web links or other relevant information with their submission.
JUDGING
A judging panel comprising 3 to 5 judges will qualitatively assess applications against the criteria above and select a short list of award finalists. One winner from the shortlisted finalists will be determined that, in the opinion of the judging panel, best demonstrates achievement of the award category and criteria.
NOTIFICATION
Finalists will be notified in advance of the award ceremony. The winner will be announced at the award ceremony on Saturday 26 October 2024 at the gala event at the Astral Ballroom, Crown Perth.
