This course is for people aspiring to become heavy vehicle (HV) operators without a HV driver’s license. It is an introductory course to the road transport HV industry in Australia, focusing on civil construction site driving and HV driving on the road network. Participants will learn about the HV industry, the hazards and risks associated with operating heavy vehicles, the hazards and risks of the road network, and the hazards and risks of other road users.

Course Structure:

The course is conducted over two days in class with an introduction to an HV driving simulator unit in which students will gain practical simulated heavy vehicle driving experience.

Additionally, the course will involve students undertaking driving experience using the heavy vehicle driving simulator or as a passenger or observer in a heavy vehicle on the road.

• HV Driving Simulator Unit introduction.
• Simulated driving experience in a HV driving simulator unit.
• Practical experience as a passenger observer in a HV.
